Long Range Forces from Quantum Field Theory at Zero and Finite Temperature

چکیده
We discuss the derivation of Newtonian potentials in the framework of quantum field theory. We focus on two particular points: on long range forces i.e. forces which fall off as 1/rn being mediated by light quanta like neutrinos or Goldstone bosons and on possible temperature dependence of such forces arising in situations when the exchanged quanta are in a thermal heat bath. Examples of the latter are cosmic relic photons and relic neutrinos. Among other things, we will show that the existence of cosmic relic neutrinos modifies the long tail of the two-neutrino exchange Feinberg-Sucher force drastically. Results concerning the potential mediated by two Goldstone bosons are also presented.

The Effect of Exchange-Correlation Holes on the Temperature Dependent Dynamic Dielectric Function of Single-Layer Quantum Wells and Coupled Nanolayers
In this paper, for the first time we have studied theoretically the effect of exchange-correlation holes around electrons in GaAlAs/GaAs/GaAlAs nanostructure on the temperature-dependent dynamic dielectric function of two-dimensional electron gas by employing random phase, STLS and Hubbard approximations. Also, we have investigated another interesting system which is coupled quantum wells struc...
متن کاملNew Developments in the Casimir Effect
We provide a review of both new experimental and theoretical developments in the Casimir effect. The Casimir effect results from the alteration by the boundaries of the zero-point electromagnetic energy. Unique to the Casimir force is its strong dependence on shape, switching from attractive to repulsive as function of the size, geometry and topology of the boundary. Thus the Casimir force is a...
متن کاملBeyond the Sherrington-kirkpatrick Model
The state of art in spin glass field theory is reviewed. We start from an Edwards-Anderson-type model in finite dimensions, with finite but long range forces, construct the effective field theory that allows one to extract the long wavelength behaviour of the model, and set up an expansion scheme (the loop expansion) in the inverse range of the interaction. At the zeroth order we recover mean f...
متن کاملQuantum Fluctuations Driven Orientational Disordering: A Finite-Size Scaling Study
The orientational ordering transition is investigated in the quantum generalization of the anisotropic-planar-rotor model in the low temperature regime. The phase diagram of the model is first analyzed within the mean-field approximation. This predicts at T = 0 a phase transition from the ordered to the disordered state when the strength of quantum fluctuations, characterized by the rotational ...
متن کاملLong range frustration in finite connectivity spin glasses: A mean field theory and its application to the random $K$-satisfiability problem
A mean field theory of long range frustration is constructed for spin glass systems with quenched randomness of vertex–vertex connections and of spin–spin coupling strengths. This theory is applied to a spin glass model of the random K-satisfiability problem (K = 2 or K = 3). The satisfiability transition in a random 2-SAT formula occurs when the clauses-to-variables ratio α approaches αc(2) = ...
